Southern Cup Race 1
On monday, tauranga hosted the first of the southern cup races which will be complete with 2 other races in oz. It was interesting with a few gates under water! My race was pretty average, i had a solid flat time on first runs apart from dropping quite low into an up to finish with a 101+4, quite a few mistake. second runs i was trying to repeat my first run but improve a few mistakes but didnt go to plan.. won't say the time since it was shocking. Senior Johann Roozenburg pulled out a 99+0 to win the first of the Southern Cup races, second went to Marcel Pontacy from Slovakia 97+4, Aaron 98+6 and myself in fourth 101+4 overall, and 1st Under 18. there's been alot of international people visting NZ with the swiss, Natalie and Simon,Simon the c2. Also Thomas Masuy from France has come for a 6 months to coach the NZ senior and junior team for the nz season and hopefully he'll continue to coach after his contract for the European Season with world cup and championship races..Its been a good start so far with thomas, just changing my progam and getting some good coaching, so hopefully i'll see results!

Summer Training
Schools out! I've had a heavy few week of school with exams, but now they're out of the way it's back into training! been heading over to the tuna almost daily with B n B, Brent and Chris W, which is good, getting some solid sessions in before the busy NZ session.. The times counting down now for my trip to oz with the development team, its a pretty big team this year with over 20 paddlers, 3 coaches and Roy B as manager.. It will be a pretty cool experience being my first trip on the dev. team, so looking forward to it! The team heads off on the 27th of December, going to the oz secondary and nationals and a southern cup race which'll be some good race expereicnce, hoping to be in the runnings to win the southern cup for U18! then on the 10th most the team heads up to the rith where we'll billet n have a week or so training, before back over the ditch on the 17th for selections, which' is looking pretty intense this year for the junior K1, looking forward to some good comptetition! Also the seniors selections for WCups have been reduced from 3 boats, to 2 in k1, 1 in c2, 2 in c1, which will make it tight. The selections are over two weekends, first two races on the 23rd and 24th of jan at mangahou which is also the NZ Open, will be sick to see some of the topdogs on the circut come over to race. Then the 3rd and 3th races ar held in Kawerau on the Tarawera River to finish. More info can be found at www.slalolmnz.org.nz or www.canoeicf.com
